What is Quality, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Management?
According to the Global definition, Quality is the degree to which a product, service, or process meets or exceeds customer expectations, requirements, and standards. It’s about fitness for use, conformance to requirements, and customer satisfaction.
As far as concerned about Quality Control is the operational techniques and activities used to check whether a product or service meets the defined quality standards. It identifies defects after the product or process is completed. It includes Inspection, testing, sampling, and statistical process control (SPC), and the optimum goal is to achieve To detect and correct defects before the product reaches the customer.
Moreover, Quality Assurance is the systematic set of planned activities implemented within a quality system to provide confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled. It focuses on preventing defects by improving processes, policies, and standards. It works on Documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), audits, training, and compliance with ISO 9001, GMP, or other standards, and the goal is to build confidence that quality is being managed and maintained throughout the process.
Further, Quality Management (QM) is the overall management approach that coordinates all quality-related activities to direct and control an organization with respect to quality, which covers Quality Planning, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Improvement, and normally, the framework the organizations have adopted is ISO 9001. The ultimate goal is to achieve long-term customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, and compliance with international standards.
